My Gracious Father,
How I thank you for that glorious day you adopted me into your forever family. I was like an abandoned orphan wandering the streets, but you sought me out, and wrapped me up in your loving embrace. You made me your child forever.
Father. Abba. Daddy. I climb into your lap today. I rest in your love. I take my stand in the rights and privileges as a royal child of the Living God.
I calm my anxious heart in the knowledge of your ceaseless care. I profess to all the world your marvelous provision and presence.
I confess you as a father of the fatherless. I bless your name for the faithful ways you are filling up the gaps and healing the painful wounds left by my imperfect earthly parents. Lord, no matter how dysfunctional my earthly family has been, you have brought me into the most wholesome, whole, beautiful, and joyful family the cosmos has ever known.
Dad, take my hand, please, and walk me safely across this busy street called life-in-a-fallen-world. I'm already hungry for that glorious, raucous, joyful family dinner we will share someday in heaven's kitchen.
Until that day, grant me kindness and love for my brothers and sisters in the family of faith, and for all people.
Through Jesus,
Amen.
to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!" Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. (Galatians 4:5-7)
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: (John 1:12)
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:26)
